I have a bit of free time so I'm hoping I can finish this post before I resume work. (cross fingers)
So, I want to post an update about Tuka as part of my promise that I will keep track and document everything about him as much as possible at least while it is still okay with him. Once he starts using the computer and the internet he might want me to stop so I'm going to post as many entries as I can while I still can. (evil laugh)
So, here are Tuka's stats so far:
WEIGHT & FEEDING:
6.6 kilos as of Aug. 14, 2013. He is exactly 4 months and 23 days. Not that impressive anymore, I know but sadly his feeding problems are starting AGAIN. Actually his feeding problems are on and off. They haven't really disappeared for good and until we can fix his milk protein allergy there will always be feeding problems.
We are still using NUTRAMIGEN since Tuka refused to drink Soy Milk (S26 Soy) but we are planning to re-introduced NAN HA and S26 Soy again when Tuka reaches his 6th month. Hopefully the results will be better than last time. (praying)
We are currently drinking PedZinc & Cherifer Drops (0.3 ml) for our multivitamins but after Tuka's 5th month we will be switching to Ferlin & Tropicee (0.6 ml).
We have already introduced Tuka to juices so he is now drinking apple, pineapple, orange, ponkan & pear juices. All natural and freshly squeezed each feeding time.

Drinking orange juice. |
We have also introduced Tuka to Cerelac or baby cereal. So far we have tried the following mixes: rice & soy, monggo & soy, and wheat & milk (didn't agree with Tuka because of the milk part). We will be trying out the following mixes for the coming days: mixed fruits & soy, mixed vegetables & soy, brown rice & soy, and lastly brown rice & milk. Our fridge is filled with baby food. (sigh)

Eating Cerelac. |
We also give Tuka
sabaw of whatever soup based food we have in the house. So far we have tried fish, chicken & pork based
sabaws.
After Tuka reaches his 5th month (3-4 days from now), we will be introducing mashed fruits & vegetables already. I know it is a bit early than what doctors normally allow but we have a feeding problem so we really don't have a choice unless I want Tuka to starve. We will start him off with carrots, squash & sweet potatoes. Homemade not the canned or jarred stuff.
VACCINES & TESTS:
Newborn screening came out normal. Yay! :)
BCG right after birth.
We have completed our DPT vaccine. We got a total of 3 shots for DPT. I don't know if there are boosters for these though.
We have had 1 dose for Rotavirus1.
OPV -(for Polio) 1 dose so far.
Hepatitis B- 3 shots so far.
|
Immunization day - 8/14/13. |
We will be going back to the health center this coming September 11 for the 2nd dose of OPV (for Polio) and another shot that I forgot what for.
Honestly though the vaccines confuse me. I will have to double check my Pedia about this and maybe post a follow-up entry next time.
We also had a fecalysis and a CBC Platelet Count for our 1st 'well baby' check up and everything came out okay. No, it is not necessary to do this. Yes, I am a super fussy mom.
HEALTH BUMPS:
My bag of water broke early so according to our Pedia it is SOP to be 100% safe to give Tuka antibiotics. So he had to wear a hep lock for a week after birth and stay in NICU for 5 days for observation. Fortunately, no sign of sepsis. :)
Milk protein allergy. Basically, can't digest milk proteins.
Neck, back and facial rash due to the milk protein allergy. So once we took Tuka off NAN everything went away and now Tuka is rash free.
Hyperactive tummy again due to his allergy. Everything went away when we took Tuka off NAN and switched to NUTRAMIGEN.
Habas on his butt. We figured because we were using wet wipes or wet cotton in cleaning up his poop. So, we started washing him the regular way - water & soap. Then after drying I will cover the red/sore area with petroleum jelly. We also switched to Huggies Dry and everything went fine after that.
EQ, PQ & IQ (?) :
If you are wondering what PQ is, I meant Physical Quotient. Nyehehehe.. ^_^
Anyway, for EQ - Tuka is turning out to be very very
suplado. He throws fits if he can't have what he wants. He is turning out to be very demanding as well. He gets bored easily these days and it is exhausting to keep him entertained. (sigh) On the positive side, he likes to talk or make 'talking' sounds. Smiles and laughs when talked to and when he really likes or enjoys something he can concentrate on that for long periods of time. Like Winnie the Pooh films. Also, he can keep himself occupied when he is in a good mood.
PQ - can grasp stuff easily and with more strength now. Can control his hands and fingers better so he can reach out for stuff that he is curious about. Can roll over on his own. Can hold head steadily without help. Makes crawling attempts. Likes to sleep on his side lately. Likes to be held facing the front or facing the back.
IQ -
basta maalam ni sya no questions asked. Bleh.. ^_^
PET PEEVES:
Tuka doesn't like cold/cool water. So, if I wash his poop or give him a bath the water must be warm otherwise he'll break your eardrums.
He hates and at the same time loves it if you are taking his snot out from his nose. It depends on his mood.
The dark. Tuka hates it if a room is dark so if there's a black out I feel like throwing a Molotov bomb to the PECO office. -_-
There. That's all for now. I'll post another entry next time. xx
